Claude is the assistant a lot of teams pick for longer documents: investigation reports, board papers, procedure rewrites. On its own it cannot see your safety data. The Safety Space MCP connector gives it that access, under your login, so the report it drafts is built from your actual incidents and actions instead of a summary you typed in.
Which safety software works with Claude?
Safety Space does, through an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. MCP is the open standard Claude uses to connect to outside tools and data, so there is no custom integration to build. Once the connector is live, Claude can:
- Answer questions about incidents, near misses, inspections, audits, permits, training and corrective actions, with charts and tables.
- Generate incident and investigation reports, monthly and board safety reports, and inspection and audit summaries, which you can export.
- Log an incident, raise a corrective action or update a record when you ask, within your permissions.
- Recommend next actions based on what the data shows.
The same server works with ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. The main Safety Space AI page has the full list of example questions.
Where Claude is a good fit
Claude handles long context well, which suits the parts of safety work that involve a lot of reading. Some examples of what people ask once Safety Space is connected:
- "Write the investigation report for the forklift incident at the Dandenong warehouse on 14 October, using the statements and root cause on file."
- "Compare this quarter's audit non-conformances with last quarter's and tell me what has not been fixed."
- "Prepare the board safety paper for September. Two pages, numbers first, then the three things we should talk about."
- "Go through every open action older than 60 days and group them by the likely reason they are stuck."
- "Draft a SWMS for replacing roof sheeting on a two-storey commercial building, then list what a competent person should check before signing it."
Each answer is built from the records the user can see in Safety Space.
How do I connect Safety Space to Claude?
The Safety Space team sets up the MCP connector for your organisation during onboarding. There is nothing to install and no API keys for your team to manage. Once it is live, your people ask Claude about safety data the same way they ask it anything else. If your organisation uses Claude with an administrator-managed workspace, we work with them on the connection.
Permissions, privacy and control
- Same permissions as the user. Claude sees only the sites, modules and records that person's Safety Space login can see.
- Read and write, logged. The connector can create and update records within the user's permissions. Every change is recorded in the audit trail against their name.
- No training on your data. Customer safety data is not used to train AI models.
- Only what the question needs. The connector returns the records relevant to the question, not an export of your account.
- Revocable. A Safety Space administrator can disconnect Claude at any time.
The privacy and permissions page covers each of these and how they fit the Australian and New Zealand Privacy Acts.
Frequently asked questions
Does Safety Space have an MCP server for Claude?
Yes. The Safety Space MCP connector is an MCP server, and it also works with ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.
Can Claude write my safety report from Safety Space data?
Yes. Ask for the report and Safety Space AI builds it from your live records for you to review, edit and export.
Is my safety data used to train Claude?
No. Customer safety data accessed through the connector is not used to train AI models.
Does it work in the Claude desktop and mobile apps?
The connector is tied to your Claude account, not a device, so the questions you can ask on one you can ask on the others.
Do we need Safety Space to use this?
Yes. The connector gives Claude access to data in Safety Space. It cannot reach safety records held in spreadsheets or another system.
