Safety Software That Works With Microsoft Copilot

Ask Copilot about your incidents, actions and LTIFR without leaving Microsoft 365. The Safety Space MCP connector, for Australian and New Zealand businesses.

• Safety Space Team • Integrations

If your organisation runs on Microsoft 365, your managers already live in Outlook, Teams and Copilot. Safety Space connects to Microsoft Copilot through the Safety Space MCP connector, so the same people can ask about safety data where they already are. "How many near misses did we have at the Mackay site last month?" gets answered from the live Safety Space records, in Copilot, with a table.

Which safety software works with Microsoft Copilot?

Safety Space does, through an MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector. MCP is the open standard that assistants like Copilot use to reach outside tools and data. The Safety Space connector gives Copilot access to a user's Safety Space account, under that user's permissions, so it can:

  • Answer questions about incidents, near misses, inspections, audits, permits, training and corrective actions.
  • Return charts and tables, not just text, and export an answer as a report.
  • Generate incident and investigation reports, monthly and board safety reports, and inspection and audit summaries.
  • Log an incident, raise a corrective action or update a record when a user asks, within their permissions.

The same connector works with ChatGPT and Claude. The main Safety Space AI page covers what you can ask in detail.

Why Copilot specifically?

Here is the thing about corporate safety reporting. The people who need the numbers are directors, general managers and operations leads, and they do not open the safety system. They open Outlook. If the monthly safety numbers can be asked for in Copilot, they get asked for. If they live in a dashboard somebody has to log into, they get asked for in an email to the safety manager, who then builds a spreadsheet.

There is a second reason. Many organisations already have Copilot under a Microsoft 365 agreement with enterprise data terms their IT team has reviewed. Connecting Safety Space to it means safety data gets AI access under an agreement the business has already accepted, instead of through a consumer chatbot somebody signed up for with a work email.

What it looks like in practice

A few things people ask Copilot once Safety Space is connected.

  • "Prepare the September safety performance report for the board."
  • "Which corrective actions are overdue by more than 30 days, and who owns them?"
  • "What is our LTIFR for the financial year to date, compared with last year?"
  • "Which sites have not completed their monthly inspections?"
  • "Whose high-risk work licences expire in the next 60 days?"
  • "Log a near miss at the loading dock: forklift reversed without a spotter, no contact, no injury."

Each answer comes from the records the user can see in Safety Space. A site manager gets their site. A group safety manager gets the group.

How do I connect Safety Space to Microsoft Copilot?

The Safety Space team sets up the MCP connector for your organisation during onboarding, working with your Microsoft 365 administrator. There is nothing for end users to install and no API keys to manage. Once it is live, your people ask Copilot about safety data the same way they ask it about their documents. We do not publish screenshots of the setup because it is done for you, not by you.

Permissions, privacy and control

  • Same permissions as the user. Copilot sees only the sites, modules and records that person's Safety Space login can see.
  • Read and write, logged. The connector can create and update records within the user's permissions. Every change is recorded in the audit trail against their name.
  • No training on your data. Customer safety data is not used to train AI models.
  • Only what the question needs. The connector returns the records relevant to the question, not an export of your account.
  • Revocable. A Safety Space administrator can disconnect Copilot at any time.

The privacy and permissions page goes through each of these in detail, including how they line up with the Australian and New Zealand Privacy Acts.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Yes. The Safety Space MCP connector works with Microsoft Copilot, so teams that live in Microsoft 365 can ask about safety data without leaving it.

Does Copilot get access to all our safety data?

No. It sees what the user asking can see, and only the records needed for the question.

Can Copilot change records in Safety Space?

Yes, within the user's permissions and on their instruction. It can log an incident, raise an action or update a record. Every change is logged.

Do we need Safety Space to use this?

Yes. The connector gives Copilot access to data in Safety Space. If your safety records are in spreadsheets or another system, Copilot cannot reach them through this connector.

Is there an extra cost?

The connector is part of Safety Space AI. Ask us during your demo about what is included in your plan.
